Officially announced a couple months back, director Todd Phillips‘ sequel Joker: Folie à Deux has now been dated by Warner Bros., arriving in theaters on October 4, 2024.
Deadline first reported the news this afternoon.
Joker was also released in October back in 2019, becoming a massive hit for Warner Bros./DC and pulling in over $1 billion in addition to scoring two wins at the Academy Awards.
Joaquin Phoenix is expected to return in the sequel as Arthur Fleck/Joker, with the film set to introduce a new version of Harley Quinn reportedly being played by Lady Gaga.
“Folie à Deux,” for what it’s worth, is the term meaning “shared psychosis” or “shared delusional disorder,” which led many to speculate that Harley Quinn would be introduced.
From what we gather, the sequel will feature a musical element.
Todd Phillips and Scott Silver are writing the sequel to the hit 2019 movie.
