Village Roadshow Pictures and Brillstein Entertainment Partners announced today the screenplays chosen for this year’s BloodList, the 13th edition of the listing of unproduced dark genre screenplays and pilots, a press release announced today.
“In addition to highlighting this fresh group of talented writers and creatives, VRP and Brillstein have chosen both On the First Day of Christmas by Casey Giltner and Zero Feet Away by Jose Nateras to develop as feature film projects, the ultimate honor for submitting a work for consideration for the list.”
“The first BloodList was just a word doc, compiled on a horror tracking board I ran, less than a year out of college,” said Kailey Marsh, creator of the BloodList and literary manager and producer at Brillstein. “Over the past 12 years, it has evolved into a real way of discovering new talent in the horror genre. Now via our Fresh Blood Initiative and with our partners at Village Roadshow Pictures, we are able to produce some of the incredible projects that are selected for the list.”
Along with Marsh, Apfelbaum and Tuckfield will oversee the BloodList producing slate that also includes Raj Balu’s Little India, a selection from 2020 Fresh Blood competition that will also be produced by Christian Taylor of Taylor Lane Productions.
In addition to On the First Day of Christmas by Casey Giltner and Zero Feet Away by Jose Nateras being developed by VRP and Brillstein, the following projects have been selected to populate this year’s list.

BloodList was created originally in 2009 by literary manager and producer at Brillstein, Kailey Marsh. For this 13th edition, the reading and tracking service Coverfly was utilized alongside the VRP and BloodList execs to help vet the more than 1,200 submissions received. Past BloodList films include THE AUTOPSY OF JANE DOE, HIS HOUSE, WE SUMMON THE DARKNESS, BLACK SWAN, BIRD BOX, THE SHALLOWS, and WARM BODIES.
