After the unfortunate lapsing of the Silent Hill domain, Konami once again has a bit of a black eye with fans. However, in spite of the website fiasco, Konami has once again given fans faint hope that the iconic franchise will return. Potentially, this time with Silent Hill in VR.
As reported by RelyOnHorror, Konami has apparently updated five of their trademarks (which can be seen at Chizai-Watch), one of which is for Silent Hill. The kicker is that the trademark includes the words “virtual reality headset”.
Now obviously, companies will periodically renew their trademarks in order to prevent what happened with the Silent Hill website. And Konami has done this renewing in the past without doing much of anything with the trademark (other than adding another Silent Hill-themed skateboard to their official online store).
But obviously, the interesting thing with this renewal is that VR aspect. Having Silent Hill in VR would be an instant moneymaker for Konami, and would give some relief to long-suffering fans of the franchise. Will it happen? Well, those rumours are still there, so back to waiting we go.
