Last week we got our first look at Netflix‘s live action “Resident Evil” series, which will debut globally on July 14, 2022. The series is primarily set in 2036, 14 years after a deadly virus caused a global apocalypse, and centered on the Wesker family. In the series, “Jade Wesker fights for survival in a world overrun by the blood-thirsty infected and insane creatures.”
Andrew Dabb (Supernatural) is the showrunner for Netflix’s “Resident Evil,” and he tells The Gamer that the events of Resident Evil Village are very much on the table for adaptation.
And yes, that includes fan-favorite character Lady Dimitrescu.
Dabb tells the website, “Village is part of our lore.” He teases, “If we want to put a giant vampire lady in Season 2, we can. I’m not saying we’re going to, but it’s an option.”
Dabb explains, “What I wanted to do is create something that you could come to if you’ve played one game or seen one movie, you can enjoy it, and if you’ve played nothing and never seen a movie, you can still enjoy it. My hope is for those people this can be a gateway to a wider world of Resident Evil. I hope you will jump in with both feet because they’re fantastic games.”
Of course, there’s no guarantee that the series will even make it to two seasons, but it sounds like anything and everything is on the table should Netflix want to keep it going.
