The saga of a new Silent Hill game continues. Per Video Games Chronicle, longtime noted leaker AestheticGamer (who had previously posted under the name Dusk Golem) has revealed a handful of images supposedly from an in-development Silent Hill title, saying that their source is new, but they had been given “more than enough proof to believe [the source]”.
Complicating matters (and adding to the “legitimacy” of the images) is the fact that within hours, the images were removed from Twitter for violating copyright, and AestheticGamer’s account being temporarily locked with a DCMA.
AestheticGamer describes the images as follows: “There’s a lot I’m not sharing for now. This is from a relatively new source for me, but I have been given more than enough proof to believe them. I also will mention the names ‘Anita & Maya’, ‘SMS Messages’, and this is not the only Silent Hill game in development.”
“The shots are a bit dated, from 2020, so maybe this project looks a bit different now. But [this is] what I’m choosing to share. I know many will doubt this, but I have a lot of private proof to show this is real, and as always I continue to wait on the Silent Hill game reveal.”
The images (which you can find in the VGC story) consist of a messy room, a red corridor covered in notes with a figure standing at the end, and a woman’s face that has been partially unpeeled with messages like ‘I hate myself’ and the British slang ‘minger’ exposed underneath her skin.
Adding to the intrigue is one of the leaked images appears to be dated October 20, 2020, and was is signed by Masahiro Ito, art director from the first three Silent Hill games.
Konami has yet to respond in regards to the legitimacy of the images. However, WayForward director Tomm Hulett (who had previously worked for Konami, and had worked on the infamous Silent Hill HD Collection), responded to the leak. Expressing his disappointment over the leaked images, Tomm stated that “If a studio has multiple people sending materials to a known leaker, they are not professional enough to do the game justice.”
By now, we all know about the saga that is Silent Hill. Between Konami reportedly having a new entry in production, the partnership with Bloober Team, and the seemingly endless rumours of a new game, it’s a wonder fans remain sane after all of this. For now, until Konami confirms it all, we can add this new story to the pile.
