After having the cat let out of the bag at SDCC earlier this year (and even earlier today), Aspyr has revealed that they’re working on Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver 1-2 Remastered, which debuted during the State of Play today. Best of all, the collection will be coming December 10 to coincide with Soul Reaver’s 25th anniversary.
The games included are remasters of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver and Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2, which were developed by Crystal Dynamics for the PlayStation and PlayStation 2 respectively. 2002‘s Blood Omen 2 and 2003’s Legacy of Kain: Defiance are not included in this collection. Crystal Dynamics is currently owned by Embracer Group, which bought the developer and the rights to the Legacy of Kain series from Square Enix a few years ago.
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver originally launched in 1999 for the PlayStation and PC, while its sequel, Soul Reaver 2, was released in 2001 for the PlayStation 2 and PC. The last entry in the series, , was released for the PlayStation 2, the original Xbox, and PC.
Sadly, the one that started it all back in 1996, Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, is still MIA, as it has its own rights issues, so it might be a long time before we get to see anything on that front.
