Lo-Fi PS1-Styled Analog Horror Game ‘Psychopathy Assessment’ Arrives This Halloween [Trailer]

Fans of PS1 horror aesthetics will have another one to check out this Halloween with Galactic Crows’ Psychopathy Assessment, a “retro-80s VHS” PS1-style analog horror title that places players at the center of a psychopathy test, where every choice they make has profound consequences.

Launching on Steam on October 31 (with itch.io coming soon) and set against the backdrop of an eerie VHS aesthetic, Psychopathy Assessment combines the unsettling vibe of 1980s analog horror with a deeply immersive psychological experience. As the screen flickers and the tape distorts, players are subjected to a series of questions that aim to delve into their darkest thoughts and impulses. But this isn’t a simple personality quiz—it’s a psychopathy exam with stakes much higher than any diagnosis.

In Psychopathy Assessment, every choice matters. As players respond to each question, the game dynamically shifts, with their answers altering both the atmosphere and their final outcome. With multiple endings ensuring no two playthroughs are the same, each player’s journey through this psychological maze aims to be as unique as it is terrifying. Once the test is complete, the game throws a curve ball for players, transitioning into PS1-style gameplay where the player now embodies a character living through the consequences of their test results.

While a playthrough of Psychopathy Assessment lasts only an hour, it aims to leave a lasting impact, with every minute filled with tension and psychological terror, thanks to its unique presentation and progressively warped visuals adding to the tension and unnerving atmosphere.
