Longtime Bloody Disgusting Contributor Felix Vasquez Jr. Has Passed Away

Bloody Disgusting is deeply sad to learn the news that a member of our community has passed away this week. A longtime BD writer, Felix Vasquez Jr. was just 41 years old.

The website Cinema Crazed, which was founded by Felix, reports this week, “Felix Vasquez Jr., the film critic and publisher of the Cinema Crazed website, passed away today at Lincoln Hospital in the Bronx, New York, at the age of 41 after a brief illness.”

Cinema Crazed’s Phil Hall adds, “A native of the Bronx, Felix first came to prominence as a member of the Film Threat team of critics and wrote a column on the Bloody Disgusting horror film site. He also contributed to Cinema Blend, Crave and Screen Anarchy before launching Cinema Crazed in 2005, which celebrated horror, science-fiction and cult movies.”

Felix began writing for Bloody Disgusting back in 2018, primarily contributing the monthly “TV Terrors” column to the site. We worked together on that popular column for the past six years, and Felix virtually never missed a month. With boundless passion, enthusiasm and a wellspring of knowledge that impressed me every single time I sat down to read one of his articles, Felix walked the Bloody Disgusting readership hand-in-hand through countless small screen oddities and treasures, covering everything from “Masters of Horror” to “Gravedale High.”

Felix’s long-running “TV Terrors” column also put the spotlight on shows including “MonsterVision,” “Night Visions,” “Nightmare Cafe,” “Tales from the Darkside,” “Toxic Crusaders,” “Ash vs. Evil Dead,” “Beetlejuice: The Animated Series,” and “Weird Science,” and that’s barely scratching the surface of the vast archive he’s left behind for you to enjoy for years to come.

Felix’s writing can also be enjoyed in the 2023 book Super Schlock: The Weird, Wild Superheroes of the 90’s, which spotlighted the lesser-known superheros from the 1990s.

He also penned the novels The Genesis Exiles (2015) and Orphan Sword (2017), both of which can be purchased on Amazon as Kindle Editions or physical paperback copies.

We’re going to miss you, Felix. Rest in Peace, friend.
