Each year, as the air begins to chill, Griffith Park transforms into Los Angeles’ favorite Halloween event: the Los Angeles Haunted Hayride.
The Hayride creates an atmosphere that feels like a true Fall festival … right in the middle of LA, something difficult to find anywhere else. As this event celebrates its 16th year, it has not lost its touch. This year’s new themes and attractions reveal why the Los Angeles Haunted Hayride earns a spot as one of our favorite haunts year after year. Whether you’re a veteran of the macabre or a newcomer to the realm of fright, the LA Haunted Hayride has something to offer everyone willing to embrace the spirit of Halloween.
This year’s festivities include…
Monáe Manor: Halloween icon Janelle Monáe has returned with another legendary party and this year, you’re invited. Step into the Monáe Manor where it’s Halloween every night and things aren’t quite what they seem. Where the walls talk and the music blares. You may have more than one ghostly encounter at this twisted soiree and it may even be from your host!
Haunted Hayride: Within the foothills of Midnight Falls, the leaves turn brown and the veil between the living and the dead is at its thinnest. The Witch of the Woods has cast her spell to summon the spirits of the underworld to cross over and assimilate into form. The Hayride leads to a thrilling adventure of horrors afflicting the town. Dazed within the spell cast upon them, the Witch commands her army of crops and flesh to seek revenge on the people that have casted her out. The Spirit of Halloween comes to life surrounding helpless victims brave enough to board The Hayride.
Hellbilly Halloween: Venture deep into the backwoods of Midnight Falls where a long rumored cannibalistic family has taken in the spirit of Halloween by dishing out diabolical tricks filled with horrifying treats.
Trick or Treat: Ding Dong Dead: Local homes inside Midnight Falls spring to life, driven by the spirit of Halloween But it is soon discovered the ghoulish residents have far more tricks on their mind than treats. The wondrous magic of a traditional neighborhood Halloween celebration is turned upside down as terrors stalk the streets in Trick-or-Treat.
Madame Aurora’s Seance Theater: Drawn to the thin veil between the living and the dead, the world famous Madame Aurora brings her talents to Midnight Falls. Witness as she conjures up spirits before your very eyes, but stay alert, not all are benign.
Midnight Falls General Store: The Town Square of Midnight Falls is the epicenter of the festivities. While guests walk around between attractions or hang out to soak in the atmosFEAR various townsfolk from the Midnight Falls community roam the space interacting with guests and attending to their local business.
Mini Escape Games: Fully interactive and unlike anything you have ever done before! Race the clock: Your group enters a room and has only 5 minutes to use clues and riddles hidden throughout the room that provide the tools necessary to meet the objective. $5 per game (onsite or online purchase)
Zombie Splat Gellyball Experience: Keep the army of the undead at bay and protect Midnight Falls! Gellyball is completely safe, as it’s much smaller than a traditional paintball and uses a colored water balloon, allowing for a much lighter impact and no permanent mess. Guests will be required to wear protective eyewear, provided at no extra charge, and will be aiming at live actor zombies in a zombie apocalypse simulator. Your experience will last approximately 5 minutes, where you will receive one hopper with 700 rounds of GellyBalls.
This year’s updates and upgrades are a true testament to Thirteenth Floor Entertainment Group’s ability to listen to customer feedback while still topping the year prior. The LA Haunted Hayride has established itself over the years as a cultural phenomenon when it comes to Halloween in Los Angeles, and it remains a must visit for those wishing to celebrate spooky season.
