James Wan (Saw, The Conjuring, Insidious) returns to horror on the road to Halloween with Malignant, coming to theaters & HBO Max from WB/New Line on September 10.
In the film, “Paralyzed by shocking visions of grisly murders, Madison’s (Annabelle Wallis) torment worsens as she discovers that her waking dreams are in fact terrifying realities.”
A brand new clip from the movie today shows off Wan’s flair for crafting scare sequences, this new footage ushering us into the world of his latest vision with a shot of what looks like evil glowing eyes in the darkness. But it’s soon revealed that we’re actually looking at a door handle glowing in the darkness, bucking horror movie expectations right out of the gate.
From there we’re taken on a spooky house tour as our main character runs for her life, a sequence brought to the screen with the spooky style we’ve come to expect from Wan.
“There’s nobody there,” Madison tells herself. We’re thinking she’s wrong…
The cast includes Annabelle Wallis, Maddie Hasson, Mckenna Grace, Jake Abel, George Young, Ingrid Bisu, Michole Briana White and Jacqueline McKenzie.
