Five years after it first launched, 505 Go Inc.’s mobile action-adventure title Alien: Blackout is being sunset at the end of the month. The game’s official X account relayed the announcement to fans, saying that the game will remain available to purchase for iOS and Android devices for $0.99 USD until October 31.
“We have made the hard decision to sunset Alien: Blackout,” reads the statement. “To allow all of our players ample time to finalise their adventures, Alien: Blackout will remain available on the App Store, Google Play, and Amazon store for the next 30 days, sunsetting on October 31, 2023. After October 31, 2023, all development and support for this game will cease and the game will no longer be available on the App Store, Google Play, or Amazon store, but will remain playable for anyone that purchased before the sunset date.”
“We want to thank all our players and teams for joining us on this thrilling adventure.”
Alien: Blackout takes place after the events of Alien: Isolation (though publisher FoxNext stressed that it was not a sequel to Isolation), and follows Ellen Ripley’s daughter Amanda, who is trapped aboard a crippled Weyland-Yutani research station. The station also has a Xenomorph problem.
Similar to Five Nights at Freddy‘s, the player must guide the crew to safety by relying on the damaged controls of the space station to cut power and seal doors to prevent the Xenomorph from attacking the crew. However, you only have a limited amount of power to rely on, so you must choose wisely.
