So, Motive Studio’s Dead Space remake is awesome. And with the positive response the game has received, talk of Motive Studio doing more involving Dead Space has creeped up again.
In a new interview with British GQ, Motive Studio senior and creative directors Phil Ducharme and Roman Campos-Oriola chatted it up about the remake on a variety of topics. The question came up about EA’s previous 10 year lull in the series after Dead Space 3, and if the team had any ideas for what they could do with the property. “For sure, it’s, it’s a hope that we have. There’s interest on my side and I think on Roman’s side in exploring Dead Space more. There are ideas, that’s for sure.”
Whatever comes next won’t be immediate, as the team obviously still has postlaunch work to do, as well as the necessary downtime from working on the remake. “We’re gonna be heading out on vacation and then we’ll sit down and we’ll have those discussions within EA to say, ‘Well, what’s next?'”
The obvious “next” would be Dead Space 2, but who knows? The team could revisit Visceral’s rail shooter Dead Space: Extraction and turn it into a VR game for Sony’s shiny new PlayStation VR2.
Dead Space is out now on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
