Co-op multiplayer title Phylakterion will have some competition later this month, as EALoGAMES’ Paranormal Hunter will be releasing into Steam Early Access on May 22. Unlike Phylakterion, Paranormal Hunter will up the ante by including VR support to enhance the experience.
In development since 2020, Paranormal Hunter will have you teaming with up to four friends or going at it alone in various locations, searching for mysterious “symbols of grudges”, which change every playthrough. These “symbols of grudges” contain spirits that must be exorcised, and aren’t too keen on leaving. Luckily, you can use your UV lights to push back against the grudges to buy yourself and your team a few moments to escape if things get too hairy.
Successfully completing a banishment will net you rewards, as well as the ability to purchase useful items to aid your future expeditions. But be warned, failing to survive means losing your extra items.
The team’s goal while the game is in Early Access is to continue to refine and improve the game, while also adding new content. EALoGAMES plans on having the game in Early Access for “roughly 6 months”. In addition to a release on Steam, the game will be headed to consoles in the future, and will feature crossplay support.
Thanks to RelyOnHorror for the heads up!
