Vampires took to the skies in the German horror film Blood Red Sky, which landed on Netflix late last month.
Meagan Navarro was a huge fan of the film, writing that the “high-altitude thriller defies expectations” and is nothing short of a “spectacle.” She adds: “[Director Peter] Thorwarth blends an intense thriller with blood-filled horror, then grounds it all with an emotional core that pulls at your heartstrings.”
It’s certainly found its audience, globally, as Deadline reports that Blood Red Sky is a massive hit, topping 50M+ views worldwide.
Here’s the kicker – Netflix claims that 90% of the viewers watched the entire two-hour runtime(!), a stat many streamers like to dodge in their press releases. That’s insane.
In Blood Red Sky, “Nadja and her ten-year-old son are on an overnight flight from Germany to New York when a group of terrorists violently take control of the plane and threaten the lives of the passengers. Suddenly Nadja faces an impossible choice – should she reveal her dark side and the inner monster she has kept hidden from her son for years in order to save him?”
