Netflix‘s Texas Chainsaw Massacre trailer has arrived as promised this morning, giving us a much better idea what we can expect from the return of Leatherface in just a couple weeks.
The trailer was debuted by Entertainment Weekly, and you can watch below!
While the new movie is a direct sequel to Tobe Hooper’s original classic, Netflix’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre looks more in line with Marcus Nispel’s 2003 remake, the trailer promising a gory bloodbath and one hell of a gnarly-looking Leatherface. This is supposed to be the original Leatherface almost 50 years later, and yes, final girl Sally Hardesty is back too.
Netflix’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre trailer also introduces a new batch of young victims, and it looks like Sally may be the key to their survival. “50 years I’ve been waiting for this night,” Sally says in the trailer. “Just to see him again.” It looks like Sally is going to be the Laurie Strode of this one, taking the fight to Leatherface decades after surviving his initial bloodbath.
Old Man Leatherface slices his way onto the streaming service on February 18.
The new movie is a decades-later sequel only to Tobe Hooper’s original Texas Chain Saw Massacre, with actress Olwen Fouéré (Mandy) taking over the iconic role of Sally Hardesty from the late Marilyn Burns. Here’s the full official synopsis for the new movie…
“After nearly 50 years of hiding, Leatherface returns to terrorize a group of idealistic young friends who accidentally disrupt his carefully shielded world in a remote Texas town.”
“Melody (Sarah Yarkin), her teenage sister Lila (Elsie Fisher), and their friends Dante (Jacob Latimore) and Ruth (Nell Hudson), head to the remote town of Harlow, Texas to start an idealistic new business venture. But their dream soon turns into a waking nightmare when they accidentally disrupt the home of Leatherface, the deranged serial killer whose blood-soaked legacy continues to haunt the area’s residents — including Sally Hardesty (Olwen Fouéré), the sole survivor of his infamous 1973 massacre who’s hell-bent on seeking revenge.”
Mark Burnham (Lowlife) is Old Man Leatherface in Netflix’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
David Blue Garcia (Tejano) directed the movie, written by Chris Thomas Devlin.
Fede Alvarez is producing with Bad Hombre’s Rodolfo Sayagues, alongside Kim Henkel (co-writer of the 1974 film), Ian Henkel and Pat Cassidy, who are producing via their Exurbia Films.
