We’re still waiting on the official release date for Phasmophobia to be coming to consoles, and with Kinetic Games’ recent “Ascension” update for the PC version, it’s going to make it that much harder. The developer today announced v0.9.0.0, which introduces the brand-new progression system for Phasmophobia, as well as equipment tiers and various other enhancements and fixes.
With the addition of the new progression system, all current players have been reset to Prestige 1, level 1, while new players will start at Prestige 0, level 1. Those who were playing Phasmophobia before the progression update will be gifted a shiny new legacy badge based on your progress.
Meanwhile, the new equipment tiers system has given each equipment item 3 tiers, increasing the game’s equipment count from 22 to 60. Despite their cost to the player, each tier will cost the same to bring into a contract. Several items have been renamed as a result of the new upgrade tiers, so that the word covers a broader spectrum. Along with the equipment tiers, the functionality of several items has also been tweaked.
Rewards with the Ascension update have also received tweaks to “feel more rewarding” and encourage players to complete objectives. For instance, any experience earned will now give you the same amount in dollars, while rewards for collecting the bone will no longer be affected by the reward multiplier.
For new players, the training has also undergone an overhaul, with it now being set in a custom-built warehouse, with different rooms to show the player how to use each item of evidence, as well as give tips and tricks on how to play the game in a controlled environment.
This is all on top of the various enhancements to the game engine, as well as bug fixes.
The console versions of Phasmophobia are still expected to release later this month for the Xbox Series, PlayStation 5 and Playstation VR2. Crossplay support between consoles and PC is also expected.
