With the new Blade Runner Amazon series on the horizon, Annapurna Interactive has gotten in on the fun with the announcement of Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth, the first new video game set in the Blade Runner universe in 25 years (apart from Nightdive’s remaster of Westwood’s Blade Runner game from last year). Per Video Games Chronicle, the new title will be the first game to be developed by Annapurna’s own internal studio and will be directed by What Remains of Edith Finch director Chelsea Hash.
According to Annapurna, Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth will take place between the original film and its sequel, Blade Runner 2049. Not much has been revealed in terms of the plot, other than the game being set in a dystopian Los Angeles “after the Black Out hits”, and begs the question of what a Blade Runner is to do when there are no Replicants left to hunt.
Currently, Labyrinth has a Steam page, but like the announcement, is currently bereft of details for the time being. At least we get a taste of what Annapurna has in store with the teaser trailer, which debuted during the Annapurna Interactive showcase yesterday.
This will also be separate from the Blade Runner game that was announced last year by Swedish developer 110 Industries.
