Ahead of its September release, IGN has posted a new hands-on preview for Teyon’s upcoming RoboCop: Rogue City. In addition to 10 minutes of gunplay and blood for longtime fans, IGN has also dropped new details on the first-person shooter that will no doubt please longtime fans.
Among the new details, Rogue City will take place between RoboCop 2 and RoboCop 3, and will consist of a campaign lasting between 20 to 30 hours, with multiple endings and side quests. The game will also allow players the option to uphold the law in a more peaceful manner in certain situations, or go in Auto 9 blazing.
So yes, it won’t all be a “shoot first, ask questions later” affair, as you will have to do some actual police work in some situations by gathering clues and conducting investigations. Furthermore, you’ll have to serve the public trust, which is where the game’s dialogue trees come in. Earning the respect of Detroit citizens will open up new dialogue choices to aid in your investigations.
The preview also touched on the upgrade system in Rogue City, which allows RoboCop to enhance areas such as Armor (even though you’re basically a walking tank), as well as his Combat abilities. Other areas include enhancements in Deduction and Engineering that do things such as provide enhanced scanning abilities when conducting investigations, as well as the ability to unlock safes. No word on if we’ll get that jet pack.
RoboCop: Rogue City is aiming for a September 2023 release for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
