Wales Interactive’s follow-up to Maid of Sker in Sker Ritual had a brief reveal back in November. The developer has now released more info about the four-player co-op survival FPS, which is still expected later this year.
Sker Ritual is set after the events of Maid of Sker, taking place in the 1900s, and featuring “a little more of a steampunk influence” this time around. The game will be more akin to a survival wave shooter, but with a fully-fleshed story campaign built-in. It will also feature in-game challenges, tasks, and some “soon-to-be-revealed events”. You’ll either be able to play it solo, or as 4-player co-op.
Players will be exploring a new area of Sker Island this time around, known as “The Cursed Lands of Lavernock”. From a small fishing village to a secret underground lab, players will have to use their wits to survive the onslaught and complete their mission across an abandoned Cathedral and areas reminiscent of the first game’s Sker Hotel.
Luckily, you’ll have plenty of guns to aid you in Sker Ritual. You’ll be able to acquire your wares at The Laughing Policeman booths in various locations on the island. You’ll need them, as new “Quiet Ones” have appeared, which if you’ve played Maid of Sker‘s Challenge mode, you’ll be familiar with the likes of The Blazeslinger, Banshee, Mariner, and Phantom.
And in case you were curious, the devs are planning a beta for the game, which you can keep tabs on by subscribing to their socials and newsletters.
Sker Ritual will launch for PC via Steam in Q2 2022, followed by releases for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series at a later date.
