In a new developer diary for their upcoming dark fantasy RPG I, The Inquisitor, Kalypso Media and developer The Dust revealed more info on the team’s inspirations behind the title. Entitled “The Team Behind the Tale”, the video highlights members of the development team as they discuss their inspiration to work on the title, along with their choice moments in creating the world of I, The Inquisitor.
Featuring members of The Dust team — Game Designer Damian Pawlak, Writer Przemek Wróbel, and Head of Production Kuba Karolewski — the diary sees the trio answer questions such as what their roles are on the project, the games that inspired them, as well the aspects of the game which they have found to be the most interesting during their time developing I, The Inquisitor.
Based on the bestselling books by Jacek Piekara, the story for I, The Inquisitor takes place in an era of the 1500s, In this world, Christ did not die on the cross. Instead, he broke free from his crucifixion and unleashed vengeance on those who did not believe in him. Centuries have passed, and now an army of zealot Inquisitors brutally enforce the faith of this blood-hungry church that has taken hold in Europe.
The game itself centres on the despondent town of Konigstein. There, Mordimer Madderdin, an Inquisitor in service of The Holy Office, arrives to deal with the various crimes and transgressions of the common folk, all while investigating an ancient evil that is trying to take root in the town.
I, The Inquisitor is slated for release on February 8, 2024, on PC via Steam, the Xbox Series, and PlayStation 5.
