With Hunt: Showdown getting set for its upgrade later this week to Hunt: Showdown 1896, Crytek has announced a new in-game Event, alongside a new Wild Target to coincide with the move. The new Event will give players an opportunity to prowl the tortured peaks of the brand-new Colorado map, Mammon’s Gulch, as well as getting a chance to check out the new equipment, ammo, and weapons available in the game.
Starting off in the new Colorado biome, the in-game Event Scorched Earth brings three Pacts for Hunters to pledge to as they step off the train from Louisiana into the shadow of the mighty Rocky Mountains. Scorched Earth brings with it new equipment, ammo, and weapons, including the 1865 Carbine, the Infantry 73L base rifle with a sniper variant, Bear Traps as a new Tool, and a Crossbow Deadeye scoped variant.
A completely new Weekly Challenge system better supports players joining the action mid-Event, and a Battle Pass full of both free and premium rewards are available to unlock.
Meanwhile, the Hellborn is the new Wild Target. An amalgam of fire and flesh and a source of immense heat, the Hellborn can be tracked audibly by listening in Dark Sight. The Hellborn can be found at multiple locations in Mammon’s Gulch, stalking the land until provoked into explosive response.
Posing an entirely new threat, the Hellborn moves frantically to slag trespassing Hunters , scorching everything in its considerable reach. And seeing that this is still Hunt: Showdown, it’s best that you take the Hellborn out quickly, as its raging howls attract the attention of other Hunters across the Gulch, multiplying the threat minute by minute.
Hunt: Showdown 1896 arrives August 15th for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and the Xbox Series. Previous owners of Hunt: Showdown on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will automatically receive an upgrade to the new version at no additional cost on their current-gen counterpart, including all past purchases and progress.
