Paramount is bringing the Transformers back to life with a live-action Transformers: Beast Wars movie, titled Transformers: Rise of the Beasts and now releasing in 2023.
The film had originally been set to arrive in theatres on June 24, 2022, but we’ve learned tonight that it’s been pushed all the way to June 9, 2023, one full year later than planned.
Steven Caple Jr. (Creed II) is directing the film, and Collider recently broke the news that Ron Perlman (Hellboy) has joined the cast. He’ll be voicing the character Optimus Primal!
Collider notes, “Optimus Primal is the fearless leader of the Maximals.”
Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback will star in the movie, set in 1994. We’ve also learned that the central character in Rise of the Beasts will be Optimus Prime G1.
Here’s the synopsis. “Returning to the action and spectacle that first captured moviegoers around the world 14 years ago with the original Transformers, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will take audiences on a ‘90s globetrotting adventure and introduce the Maximals, Predacons, and Terrorcons to the existing battle on earth between Autobots and Decepticons.”
