The team behind “Rick and Morty” are obviously huge horror fans, as the animated series often spoofs our favorite horror gems. The fifth season just premiered on Adult Swim last month, and a new promo bumper this week pays homage to Ari Aster’s Hereditary.
Lee Hardcastle is the artist behind the claymation spoof, which has been airing on Adult Swim this week. In the spot, Morty is driving a car, and Summer is his passenger in the back seat.
You can probably guess where this is HEADed…
A choking Summer sticks her head out of the car window for a breath of fresh air and, well, it’s not long before a collision with a telephone pole sends her head flying off her shoulders. This is of course what happened to Milly Shapiro’s character Charlie in Aster’s Hereditary, one of the most downright horrifying and harrowing scenes in recent horror movie history.
