Back in 2021, Forever Entertainment had announced a remake of Data East’s arcade beat-’em-up Night Slashers. Forever Entertainment, together with developer Storm Trident, have now released a teaser trailer and screenshots for the remake, which is officially titled Night Slashers: Remake.
For those not in the know, Night Slashers is a 1993 arcade game similar to Capcom’s Final Fight, where monsters have suddenly risen up all over the world, and quickly taken over. Three months after the takeover, a group of heroes have appeared, calling themselves the Night Slashers, to battle back against the forces of darkness.
Per Gematsu, the remake will include an expanded selection of characters to choose from, along with four-player co-op. Characters will also feature improved controls and combat mechanics. And seeing as this is a remake, the spritework and stages have been redone in a fashion akin to Streets of Rage 4. The sound and music have also been given an upgrade, with the ability to choose from the newly-arranged soundtrack, or swap to the original soundtrack by Tomoyoshi Sato.
No release date or platforms have been announced for Night Slashers: Remake. If you’re looking to get a taste of what to expect, you can always grab the original version of Night Slashers on Steam (though this is the censored version), or on the Nintendo Switch.
