If you’ve been waiting for Nightdive to mention something about their System Shock remake, wonder no more. Today, Nightdive announced that they’re teaming up with publisher Prime Matter to release the long-awaited remake of the 90s sci-fi horror classic on PC and consoles worldwide in 2022.
After teasing fans this past summer with the demo, it appears that the remake will finally see the light of day after being in development for over six years. According to Stephen Kick, founder and CEO of Nightdive Studios, the game has been “a true labour of love” for Nightdive, with the goal to deliver a game “that is as close to perfect as we can make it.”
“We’re excited to partner with Prime Matter to achieve that goal and see this as an important step in the growth of Nightdive Studios. It will allow us to offer System Shock to fans all over the world, both in digital and physical goods formats, as well as fully honour our commitments to our fans and, in particular, to our thousands of supporters on Kickstarter, without whom this game would have never been possible.”
System Shock is available to pre-order now for PC via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store for $44.99, with the demo still available for you to try. As a pre-order bonus, players will receive Nightdive’s upcoming System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition.
