The wait is finally over for horror video game fans, as The Horror Game Awards have announced the nominees for this year’s event, with public voting now open. YouTuber Phil Dickens aka AKblackandred and Will Penkeyman of Resident Evil Central revealed the nominees via a new video below. Fans can now vote from over 50 games in 11 categories, with at least 20 titles having multiple nominations.
In all, there are 76 nominees for The Horror Game Awards this year, including 8 performers (for Best Performance), 14 developers (for Best Developer), and 54 games. As you might expect, Capcom’s Resident Evil 4 leads the way with 8 nominations, and is nominated in the most categories with 8. Alan Wake 2 also has 8 nominations, but is nominated in 7 categories, with two in the Best Performance nominations.
Here’s how it works: Each member of the 31-member jury gets to nominate one game for each category that they are a part of this year. Those nominations get voted on by you, the public, with the top three comprising the finalists for that category. The jury then picks a winner from the finalists through a preference vote. The eleventh category, the Players’ Choice Horror Game Award, (which people voted on beginning in September) is voted on exclusively by the public.
The Horror Game Awards 2023 will air on December 16, live on YouTube. starting at 11am PST / 2pm EST / 7pm GMT / 8pm CET.
