Being billed as a live action fantasy series, the masters over at the Jim Henson Co. have linked up with Norman Reedus (“The Walking Dead”) for a project that sounds very exciting.
Variety reports that the project is in early development, with Reedus “creating an entirely new universe of characters by teaming up with Brian and Wendy Froud (“The Dark Crystal”) for a project in the works for Henson. The primetime adventure series, intended for a family audience, will feature an entirely new universe of creatures created by the Frouds.”
“Norman Reedus, the Frouds, and the Jim Henson Company coming together to create a show is the mashup of my dreams,” Halle Stanford, president of TV at The Jim Henson Company said in a statement. “Norman is an artist, and when I suggested to him, what if we create a series with the Frounds together that explores his love of magical creatures, he was so excited.”
Reedus adds, “They are masters in the fantasy world-building space. I mean, a show about goblins, trolls and otherworldly creatures? There’s nobody in the universe better suited for that than the Henson Company.”
Unfortunately, Netflix pulled the plug on “The Dark Crystal: The Age of Resistance” in 2020, but the Henson team is ready to head back to Thra whenever anyone asks them to.
