Mongolian horror film Aberrance is now playing in select theaters, which is notable because it’s actually the first Mongolian horror feature to be released theatrically in the U.S.
The video on demand (VOD) and digital release will follow in 2024.
In Aberrance, when city dwellers Erkhmee and Selenge arrive at an old cabin deep in the Mongolian wilds, a sense of foreboding settles over the couple. As the neighbor digs deeper for the reason behind this aberrant behavior, only more questions and trouble arise.
Aberrance is the theatrical directing debut film by Baatar Batsukh who also co-wrote the film with Erdene Orosoo (Kinsman of the Sun) and Byambasuren Ganbat.

In the wake of the film’s Sundance premiere earlier this year, Rialto Pictures brings the based-on-a-viral-story dating thriller Cat Person to select theaters this weekend.
Susanna Fogel (The Spy Who Dumped Me) directed Cat Person, based on a story penned by Kristen Roupenian for The New Yorker that became a viral sensation back in 2017.
In the film, “When Margot (Emilia Jones), a college sophomore goes on a date with the older Robert, she finds that IRL Robert doesn’t live up to the Robert (Nicholas Braun) she has been flirting with over texts. A razor-sharp exploration of the horrors of dating.”
Michelle Ashford wrote the screenplay.
Meagan wrote in her Sundance review, “Cat Person highlights the hells of modern dating from the perspective of a young, rash woman, intending to work as a conversation starter.”
And finally, the apocalyptic thriller Foe, based on best-selling author Iain Reid’s (I’m Thinking of Ending Things) novel, has also been released into select theaters beginning today.
