Now streaming on Netflix, the brand new horror series “Brand New Cherry Flavor” comes from “Channel Zero” duo Nick Antosca and Lenore Zion, and our own Daniel Kurland was a huge fan of the series, writing in his rave review that it’s “a lucid love letter to revenge that thrives on nightmare logic, unhinged performances, and Hollywood’s fake veneer.”
Kurland continued in his review for Bloody Disgusting, “Brand New Cherry Flavor tells an important, timely story that often feels like a new season of Channel Zero, but with an even bigger scope and mission to provoke. The series provides the perfect taste for horror fans, and audiences won’t ever want to cleanse their palates.”
Spoilers below for those who haven’t yet watched. But for those who have, did you spot the show’s various references, homages and Easter eggs to horror classics? The works of David Lynch, David Cronenberg, George Romero, and Sam Raimi are referenced throughout “Brand New Cherry Flavor,” and an official video from Netflix this week takes a closer look at those homages to films including Lost Highway, Drag Me to Hell, and Night of the Living Dead.
