Lionsgate has acquired Breeders, an upcoming horror project, that will star “Bates Motel” and The Quiet Ones‘ Olivia Cooke, Bloody Disgusting learned.
Kelsey Bollig will make her feature directorial debut. She’s said to be one of the most highly promising talents in horror, her short films “Asking for a Friend” and “The Fourth Wall have won many awards at horror festivals across the country. Her most recent short film, “Kickstart My Heart”, made its debut recently to raves at Dances With Films.
The studio is keeping the logline under wraps but it’s based on an original idea by producer Adam McKay (Don’t Look Up, “Succession”) and Brian Steele, with the screenplay penned by Brian Steele.
Todd Schulman also produces.
Cooke also stars in Ready Player One and the upcoming “Game of Thrones” prequel series “House of the Dragon”.
