Pearl was co-written by Ti West (X, The Innkeepers, The Sacrament, The House of the Devil) and Mia Goth, and the two talk about the movie’s origins in a clip from the bonus features package that Bloody Disgusting is exclusively debuting today. You can check it out below.
“Pearl came about at the very beginning; it was somewhat of a joke… when I first signed on to X, Ti and I were talking a lot about Maxine and Pearl and the connection between those two women. Within those conversations, this idea just started to form – somewhat as a joke at first, I guess because we never really believed that this could happen,” Mia Goth explains.
Ti West adds, “It just sort of bloomed into something far more three-dimensional.”
