Rhys Frake-Waterfield, the director of the upcoming horror movie Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, has revealed to The Hollywood Reporter today that not only is he working on a sequel to Blood and Honey, but he’s also developing a twisted take on another classic tale.
The title of his next adventure? Peter Pan: Neverland Nightmare!
Created by J.M. Barrie way back in 1902, the character of Peter Pan – like Winnie the Pooh – is in the public domain, even if the iconic Disney iteration of the character is very much not.
In other words, filmmakers like Frake-Waterfield are free to use Winnie the Pooh and Peter Pan however they see fit, which would explain how these horror movies are possible.
Stay tuned for more on Peter Pan: Neverland Nightmare as we learn it.
First, Fathom Events will bring Blood and Honey to US theaters on February 15, 2023.
