Old-school shooter fans waiting on a release date for Phantom Fury won’t have to wait any longer. 3D Realms and developer Slipgate Ironworks have announced that the follow-up to Ion Fury will be launching on PC via Steam and GOG. The console version of Phantom Fury for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Switch are also planned, but no release date has been announced as of yet.
And much like Killer Klowns From Outer Space: The Game, Phantom Fury will be making an appearance at PAX East later this week. Those who attend the convention will have the chance to get a quick taste of the Crater Bar level from Phantom Fury from March 21-24, at Booth #18019.
Described as a “road movie-inspired first-person shooter”, Shelly “Bombshell” Harrison is back. Taking place many years after Ion Fury, Shelly Harrison awakens in a new world, pulled out of a coma at the behest of an old colleague. Shelley must nab an artifact capable of unprecedented destruction: the legendary Demon Core.
This time around, Shelley is equipped with a new bionic arm to unleash powerful new abilities, solve environmental puzzles, and explore environments. That’s on top of an array of over 20 unique weapons at her disposal. Fan favorites like the Bowling Bombs are joined by brand-new equipment such as armor-piercing shotguns and electrified foam shooting devices. Your weapons can also be upgraded, including mods that grant you completely new fire functions.
