Developer Little Sewing Machine’s upcoming dark fantasy adventure game Bye Sweet Carole showed up at Gamescom last week, with seven minutes of pre-alpha gameplay footage. Despite being early in development, the footage shows off some beautiful hand-drawn artwork, as well as Bye Sweet Carole‘s Clock Tower inspirations, and main protagonist Lana’s ability to transform.
The new Bye Sweet Carole gameplay footage also reveals the tall and lanky Mr. Baesie, Lana’s companion during her journey. Possessing offensive capabilities, Mr. Baesie also has the ability to morph into a smaller version of himself. While not as swift as a Lana’s rabbit form, his downsized form enables Mr. Baesie to manipulate objects effectively. Players will be able to switch between both characters on-the-go to make the best use of their abilities and transformations.
Created by Chris Darril, creator and director of Remothered series, Bye Sweet Carole focuses on Lana Benton. Urged by the terrifying Mr. Kyn, also known as “Old Hat,” Lana finds herself catapulted into a mysterious enchanted garden to deal with menacing and disturbing creatures. After discovering a number of letters from a certain “French,” Lana decides to follow the last known trail of Carole Simmons, a girl of the same age who apparently escaped from Bunny Hall, an orphanage in the nineteenth century. The building is now infested by colony of wild rabbits that are able to open a dimensional portal to the realm of Corolla.
Bye Sweet Carole is planned for release in 2024 on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series and PC via Steam.
