We just passed the one year anniversary of the Hulu debut of Prey, which has proven to be a massive success for the streaming service. The film is up for SIX awards at this year’s Emmys, a rare honor for the horror genre that proves just how good last year’s return of the Predator franchise really was. You’d have to imagine Disney wants a sequel at this point, right?
But what are the chances that we get another Predator movie in the coming years? And would such a movie continue the storyline from Prey, or was that a one-shot experience?
Speaking with The Playlist in a new interview that just ran, Prey director Dan Trachtenberg notes that he’s never personally stopped thinking about where the saga could go next.
“I can’t really say anything about that right now, but I’ll say while we were finishing the movie, we were having really exciting conversations,” Trachtenberg tells the outlet. “The studio, myself, the writer, and the producers about what crazy things could we do next.”
He adds, “And I’ve never stopped, no one stopped thinking about how cool things could be going forward.”
In other words, while nothing is ready to be announced at this time, Prey 2 is very much a possibility. And we’d be extremely surprised if Disney doesn’t pull the trigger on it soon.
Stay tuned for more on a possible Prey continuation as we learn it.
Amber Midthunder stars in Hulu’s Prey as a Comanche woman who goes against gender norms and traditions to become a warrior, bravely taking down a Predator in the process.
