It turns out that the original leak from the Taiwan Game Rating site was true. Revealed during publisher Annapurna Interactive’s showcase yesterday, Giant Sparrow’s BAFTA-winning title What Remains of Edith Finch is now available for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series as an enhanced version, featuring 4K resolution and support for 60 frames-per-second gameplay.
As an added bonus, those who already own What Remains of Edith Finch on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are entitled to the enhanced upgrade for free. Unfortunately, per PushSquare, those who snagged the game via PS Plus are not eligible for the upgrade, it seems. Only those who actually purchased the game will get the upgrade.
Meanwhile, Nintendo Switch fans hoping to get in on the upgraded version of the game will be relying on developer Mobius Digital. However, no release date has been given for the Switch release as of yet.
If for whatever reason you haven’t played What Remains of Edith Finch, the title centres on 17-year-old Edith Finch, who has returned to her dilapidated family home to investigate just why her relatives have the unfortunate habit of dying young in unusual ways. Each story you find lets you experience the life of a new family member on the day of their death throughout the family’s history.
What Remains of Edith Finch was originally released back in 2017 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG. The Nintendo Switch version followed in 2019.
