With id Software’s classic FPS Quake hitting the big 2-5 earlier this year, you’d have to wonder what Bethesda was going to do as part of the celebration. Well, thanks to a “whoopsie”, we know that QuakeCon is where it’s happening.
When the official QuakeCon schedule was revealed, XboxEra spotted some pretty telling evidence that Bethesda was planning to do a little more than celebrate Quake’s 25. In fact, the words “revitalized edition” were used, and MachineGames (who are in the midst of working on that Indiana Jones game) is heavily implied to be behind said edition.
This is what the text originally said: “Quake is back, in this special stream John Linneman from Digital Foundry talks to Jerk Gustafsson of MachineGames about the title’s iconic legacy and what it meant to both of them. The pair will also discuss the additional content MachineGames have contributed to this revitalized edition.”
So it would appear that the original Quake is getting a facelift. Of course, we won’t know until the event reveals it, but as the magic 8-ball says, “all signs point to ‘yes'”.
QuakeCon is a digital-only affair this year, but will kick off on August 19, with things wrapping up on August 21.
