With all of the “will he or won’t he” regarding Anthony Starr and Homelander for the character’s upcoming release this Spring for Mortal Kombat 1, it’s easy to forget about the other DLC Kombatants. Namely, Quan Chi and Peacemaker, the former arriving in Mortal Kombat 1 on December 14th for Kombat Pack owners (December 21 for everyone else), and the latter arriving in February 2024.
We also get a bit of background lore for Quan Chi, who is voiced this time by Sean T. Krishnan. Born into hard labor in an Outworld mine, Quan Chi had no future, just the guarantee of certain death in its dark tunnels. Fearing for his life after betraying fellow mine workers, Quan Chi’s life was saved by a mysterious benefactor and in exchange for his service, she offered to free him from the mines and train him in dark magic. Now a master of the Netherrealm’s most vile sorcery, he plots with Shang Tsung to conquer the realms.
In addition to showing off Quan Chi, we also get a look at Khameleon, a new Mortal Kombat 1 Kameo Fighter, who will be available as part of the Kombat Pack and standalone purchase in January 2024. As for Peacemaker, the trailer also gives fans a quick glimpse of the antihero, who according to the press release, has been confirmed to be voiced by and modeled after John Cena.
Mortal Kombat 1 is out now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.
