Timothy Olyphant will soon return in small screen reboot “Justified: City Primeval,” and we’re learning this week that Quentin Tarantino is in talks to direct a couple episodes!
Variety reports that Tarantino is in “early talks” to direct “one or two episodes” of FX’s “Justified” reboot, which will bring Olyphant back as the character U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens.
“Justified” originally came to an end in 2015, after six seasons. The American-Western crime drama was based on Elmore Leonard‘s tales, and developed by Graham Yost.
It’s interesting to note that Tarantino’s Jackie Brown was also based on an Elmore Leonard novel. And Tarantino recently directed Olyphant in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
FX’s reboot series is specifically based on Leonard’s novel City Primeval: High Noon in Detroit, and it’s the latest in a string of TV reboots to bring back fan favorite characters.
The new limited series from Dave Andron and Michael Dinner “picks up with Givens eight years after he left Kentucky behind. He now lives in Miami, a walking anachronism balancing his life as a U.S. Marshal and part-time father of a 14-year-old girl. His hair is grayer, his hat is dirtier, and the road in front of him is suddenly a lot shorter than the road behind.”
Tarantino is of course mostly known as a film director, but this wouldn’t be the first time he’s applied his unique vision to the small screen. Tarantino directed an episode of “E.R.” back in 1995, you may recall, and he later directed two episodes of “C.S.I.” in 2005.
As for Tarantino’s next – and possibly FINAL movie – we don’t yet know what to expect there, but a third Kill Bill movie is always still on the table. Nothing has been confirmed at this time.
How about a Tarantino horror movie? Well, anything is possible.
