If narrative-driven horror is your thing, then you’re in luck with Sutemi Productions’ upcoming Survival Horror title My Work Is Not Yet Done. Publisher Raw Fury announced during The Mix Next 2022 (which is where DreadXP announced their upcoming titles) that they’ve acquired the publishing rights for the game, which is slated to arrive on PC via Steam.
Combining elements of survival/simulation genres with a dense, nonlinear plot, My Work Is Not Yet Done follows the final days of the inquisitor Avery, the last surviving member of a doomed scientific expedition into a remote stretch of country. Tasked with tracking down the source of a strange transmission believed to have originated from somewhere within the region, Avery must navigate, survey and survive an eerie, ever-shifting landscape reclaimed by nature — and perhaps something stranger.
Sporting a mix of graphical styles (including one reminiscent of Ysbryd Games’ World of Horror), My Work Is Not Yet Done centres around a combination of “open-ended investigative and analytical work, in tandem with a detailed simulation-lite approach to representing the character’s embodied physical experience at the level of moment-to-moment minutiae.”
Overly flowery? Perhaps. But according to the Steam page, this description belies the game’s darker aspects. Namely, disturbing imagery, and extreme graphic violence. Contrast that against the trailer, and it’s these sorts of extreme opposites that get people’s attention.
