Rebellion is taking their Zombie Army franchise into virtual reality with Zombie Army VR. Developed in partnership with XR Games, Zombie Army VR will launch later this year for for PlayStation VR2, SteamVR, and the Meta Quest 2, 3, and Pro. The announcement was accompanied by the game’s reveal trailer.
Following the story of the Zombie Army series, in Zombie Army VR you return to the field as one of the Deadhunters, an elite squad that is hunting down zombie war criminals. You must fight your way through the undead hordes near the bombed-out city of Nuremberg and help the Deadhunter’s legendary leader, Hermann Wolff, find his scattered family and fight to stop the zombie apocalypse.
The jump to VR brings a new level of immersion to the series, having players use both hands to aim down the sights of your rifle and line up your shots at range. When things get up close and personal, use can use each hand independently to dual-wield pistols and submachine guns. You will also need to master reloading drills as you battle the undead swarms.
Players will have access to a wide array of World War II weaponry, including sniper rifles, submachine guns, pistols, and more. You’ll earn XP to level up your Deadhunter as you fight, and with the use of Weapon Upgrade kits, you’ll be able to modify the range, accuracy, scope, and ammo capacity of your weapons.
Best of all, you can either go at it alone, or take the fight online and join a friend for 2 player co-op.
