We all know that trope in horror movies about a character keeping the light on to avoid whatever is lurking in the dark from getting them. Developer Lost Frame Development (the developer behind StrangerZ) is putting that trope to good use in their upcoming Survival Horror title, Hallways.
While there’s no real story (as of yet) to speak of for Hallways, the gameplay is pretty straightforward. You have an unseen menace stalking you in a conjunction of four hallways, and you have to survive until 6am. In order to do so, you’ll need to rely on the light switches in each of the hallways to deter your attacker. You can also use your flashlight to confirm which direction your attacker is coming from, whereupon you can turn on the light in that hallway.
However, turning on the lights uses up power. And once you run out of power, you’re out of luck. You’ll also need to rely on the generator to charge up your flashlight.
Lost Frame Development touts the game’s AI as giving Hallways plenty of replayability, where no two playthroughs are the same. There are also Easter Eggs that players may come across during their playthroughs.
“This is what I love to do, and I couldn’t be happier with the impending release,” says Will Taubenheim, Lost Frame Development’s lone developer. “Bringing this dream to life and sharing it with our dedicated following is a realization of my passion. I am an 18 year old developer who is releasing his fourth steam game. I love what I do!”
Hallways is slated for a Q1 2024 release on PC via Steam.
