Finally, after years of rumours, Capcom has unleashed the first trailer for the remake of Resident Evil 4, with a release date of March 24, 2023 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC! The game was the first out of the gate during Sony’s State of Play, and will also see Sony PlayStation VR2 content.
Of course, right after that, Capcom also dropped news that Resident Evil Village will be receiving VR support via PlayStation VR2! No release date has been revealed as of yet.
Capcom revealed more about the RE4 remake on PlayStation Blog, highlighting that the story will undergo a “reimagining” while keeping its essence. In addition, the game will see updated graphics and a modern control scheme. “We aim to make the game feel familiar to fans of the series, while also providing a fresh feeling to it.”
You know the story by now: Six years have passed since the biological disaster in Racoon City. Leon S. Kennedy, one of the survivors of the incident, has been recruited as an agent reporting directly to the president. With the experience of multiple missions on his back, Leon is sent to rescue the kidnapped daughter of the president of the United States. He tracks her to a secluded European village, where there is something terribly wrong with the villagers…
Meanwhile, thanks to the still-in-development PSVR2, Village “will be able to provide an even deeper immersive experience by taking full advantage of the vivid graphics possible with the headset’s 4K HDR display, PlayStation VR2’s eye tracking, PlayStation 5’s 3D audio and more.”
Survival is just the beginning.
