While Resident Evil Gaiden isn’t canon (and is barely acknowledged for that reason), that’s not stopping a group of fans from remaking the game in classic Resident Evil 2. Per DSOGaming, modders Andrew Coyte and 3lric have announced the project, codenamed “Starlight”, in the form of a new teaser trailer.
The team has begun making and reusing assets for the remake of the action-adventure game, which doesn’t have a release date as of yet. The remake appears to utilize the classic camera viewpoints and tank controls, as well.
In case you’re unfamiliar with Resident Evil Gaiden, the game first appeared on the Game Boy Color back in 2001. Gaiden used a top-down perspective camera, with battles fought in first-person view.
The story concerns a viral outbreak on the ocean liner Starlight, and sees series mainstays Leon S. Kennedy and Barry Burton investigating. As mentioned, the game is not in the Resident Evil canon, thanks to the Gaiden‘s ending making certain games not take place.
Hey everyone! We've been working on something for a little while now, and thought we would give you a sneak peak of a long term project we are working on, back by popular demand!
Enjoy!https://t.co/pMO6KwMKw3
