In what might be a prelude for The Game Awards in a few weeks’ time, Capcom’s Resident Evil Village snagged several of the awards earlier this week at GamesRadar’s Golden Joystick Awards, including the coveted Ultimate Game of the Year. Alongside Village, Death Loop, Metroid Dread, Psychonauts 2, Elden Ring and even Dark Souls all made a splash at the event.
Along with the Ultimate Game of the Year, Resident Evil Village also snagged awards for Best Audio, Best Performer with Maggie Robertson’s Lady Dimitrescu, and PlayStation Game of the Year. Capcom as a company won the Studio of the Year award, as well. Death Loop garnered the Critics Choice Award, while Metroid Dread won the Nintendo Game of the Year. Psychonauts 2 won the Xbox Game of the Year, and Elden Ring earned the Most Wanted Game award.
For their efforts on Returnal, Housemarque won the Breakthrough Award. Ghost of Tshushima won the Best Game Expansion award for their “Iki Island” expansion, and the PlayStation 5 won the Best Gaming Hardware award.
Oh yeah, and Dark Souls? It was voted the Ultimate Game of All Time. The winners are based on public opinion through voting on the Golden Joystick Awards’ website, so we’ll have to see just how the Game Awards stack up this year by comparison.
Speaking of which, The Game Awards 2021 will take place live on December 9. Voting is still open, so head on over to The Game Awards website to log your choices.
