We’ve had rumblings of Kojima working on a horror game that’s not titled Silent Hill for a long while now. Of course, in typical Kojima fashion, he’s been mum on just what he’s been cooking. But now a rumour has surfaced regarding this title that provides a few details, including who’s starring in it.
Per Tom Henderson over at Try Hard Guides, who has apparently been sent footage of Kojima’s next game, the title will be called Overdose. The footage in question shows actress Margaret Qualley (who played Mama in Death Stranding), walking through dark corridors with a flashlight in third-person. However, the footage also suggests that the game can be played in first person, as well.
The footage ends with a jump scare “GAMEOVER”, followed by the typical “A Hideo Kojima Game” text and the title “OVERDOSE”.
Obviously, with Summer Games Fest being right around the corner (June 9, to be exact), and Kojima being buddies with Summer Games Fest organizer Geoff Keighley, the rumour wheels are turning. Kojima reportedly has been in talks with Xbox for the company to publish their next game since last year. There was also that statue of Kojima Productions’ company icon and mascot Ludens sitting on Xbox head Phil Spencer’s shelf last year during an interview.
None of this has been verified by Kojima or Microsoft. But again, there’s that coincidence factor that one can’t ignore. Stay tuned.
