After the recent rumours regarding Capcom’s supposed remake of Resident Evil and work on Resident Evil 9, leave it to insider Dusk Golem to further stir the pot. And the latest rumour is good news for long-suffering fans of Resident Evil Code: Veronica.
Once again, take what is being said by insiders with a grain of salt.
According to Dusk Golem’s latest drip feed on X, remakes for Resident Evil Zero and Resident Evil Code: Veronica are currently in development. “I’ve talked to many others behind the scenes about this at this point, it’s something I heard over a year ago, think it was going to get out whether I was the one to say it or not, & that’s about it.”
It would be a dream of many fans to see Code: Veronica get the remake treatment, especially since a fan-made remake was squashed last year by Capcom.
In contrast, Dusk Golem is now stating that Capcom’s remake of the first Resident Evil are “bull****”. Not only that, but Dusk Golem is now saying that a summer reveal of Resident Evil 9 is off the table. “First, I would wipe the expectations of RE9 being announced this summer period. The initial murmers [sic] I heard I now do believe are right, & RE9‘s announcement is further away than this upcoming summer.”
Dusk Golem did state earlier that the reveal of Resident Evil 9 wasn’t confirmed for this summer, and that the game could see a release in 2026.
As always, Capcom has not responded to these rumours, nor have they made any indication as of yet that they would be revealing anything Resident Evil related this summer.
Resident Evil Code: Veronica was originally released back in 2000 for the Sega Dreamcast. An updated version, titled Code: Veronica X, was released a year later for the PlayStation 2.
