The Hollywood Reporter broke the news late last night that Creed director and star Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan are reuniting for a mysterious “feature film project.”
What’s particularly exciting here is that THR refers to the untitled project as a “genre movie,” suggesting it’s going to fall somewhere within the sci-fi and/or horror genres.
Ryan Coogler (Black Panther) wrote the script and will be directing. THR notes, “It’s based on an original idea from Coogler, who will serve as lead producer.”
The website further details, “The project is operating under such a veil of secrecy that little is known about it. In fact, executives and buyers were forced to make the pilgrimage to the Beverly Hills offices of WME, the agency that represents Coogler and Jordan, in order to take a gander on the script and get details. Those meetings took place last week.”
Additionally, “two sources have said there is a period element to the story.”
Producing alongside Coogler are Zinzi Coogler and Sev Ohanian.
Speaking of Michael B. Jordan and genre features, the actor attached himself to produce The Dwelling just last year, a short story-based horror movie from Amazon Studios.
“The Dwelling tells the story of a newly divorced father who discovers a house buried in his backyard. He is a former all pro football player trying to ease into retirement, and the hits he took on the field starts to make him unsure what is real and imagined, as things begin to go awry. The short story has a fantastic male lead at its center.”
Stay tuned for updates on both of these projects as we learn more.
