Scream 6 will be bringing Ghostface back to theaters on March 10, 2023, and the various teases we’ve got in the last several months suggest it’s going to be a wild ride.
For starters, the new movie will take the franchise into New York City for the very first time, with Jenna Ortega teasing an “action-heavy” and “gore-heavy” new installment.
Speaking with Collider, fellow returning star Melissa Barrera provided a very similar tease this week, doubling down on the promise of Scream 6‘s ultra-violence.
Barrera explains, “There was a saying on set because (directors) Matt [Bettinelli-Olpin] and Tyler [Gillett] were always asking for more blood and more sweat. They always just wanted more. ‘More blood spritz’ was the saying because they would just always want more.
“With the last Scream, they were tip-toeing and trying to be very respectful of what the franchise had been, up until that point, and keeping their inner gory dreams at bay. But with this one, they were like, “We’re going all out.” It’s potentially a hundred times gorier.”
Jasmin Savoy Brown (“Mindy”) and Mason Gooding (“Chad”) are also back in Scream 6, alongside Hayden Panettiere as the returning Kirby from Wes Craven’s Scream 4.
In the brand new movie, “The Scream saga continues with the four survivors of the Ghostface killings as they leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter.”
Radio Silence’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (Scream, Ready or Not) are both back behind the camera for the upcoming Scream movie, which doesn’t yet have an official title.
The next installment of Spyglass Media and Paramount Pictures’ franchise also features Samara Weaving (Ready or Not), Tony Revolori (Spider-Man: Homecoming & No Way Home), Jack Champion (Avatar: The Way of Water), Liana Liberato (The Beach House), Devyn Nekoda (“Ghostwriter”), Josh Segarra (“Arrow), and Henry Czerny (Ready or Not).
