Scream Factory has announced this afternoon that Poltergeist II: The Other Side will be joining the original horror classic in the world of 4K Ultra HD with a brand new release.
The 1986 sequel gets a 4K Ultra HD upgrade on August 27, 2024.
In the thrilling follow-up to the smash hit Poltergeist, the Freeling family (JoBeth Williams, Craig T. Nelson, Heather O’Rourke, and Oliver Robins) settles into a new home following the annihilation of their former residence by terrifying visitors from the netherworld. But the spirits of the dead are still hell-bent on luring the family to “the other side.”
Featuring incredible visual effects that earned the team an Academy Awards nomination in 1987, Poltergeist II is notable for the late Julian Beck’s chilling performance as Reverend Kane.
Poltergeist II: The Other Side was followed by one more sequel in 1988, simply titled Poltergeist III. 20th Century Fox later remade the original classic with Poltergeist in 2015.
Last we heard, a TV series is now in development at Amazon and MGM.
